        Better Planet

        Better Planet

We will create a better planet for future generations by putting the climate, biodiversity and resources crises at the heart of the way we do business.

        • FEEDBACK

Our planet’s resources are finite. Yet, overconsumption continues and has led to rapid rises in the amount of carbon in our atmosphere, accelerating climate change and increasing both flooding and water shortages. It has also caused the destruction of habitat leading to the extinction of many species of plants and animals and increased pollution in our air, oceans and on land.

The extent of the challenges the planet is facing means that ‘business as usual’ is not an option. We are rethinking our approach to how we build in order to eliminate our fossil fuel use, maximise our resource efficiency and enhance our natural environments.

        Our ambitions to 2030 are:

        2021 highlights include:

        • Carbon neutral for the ninth year running.
        • Reduced absolute carbon emissions by 32% since our baseline year of 2018 and by 17% since 2020.
        • Reduced our carbon emissions (relative to turnover) by 68% since 2010.
        • Reduced absolute construction waste by 54% and construction waste intensity (relative to turnover) by 63% since 2012.
        • Secured nearly 90% of our target to plant 10,000 trees in 2021.
        • Reduced mileage from business travel and commute by 45% since 2018.
        • Re-certified to the Carbon Trust Standard, achieving a best-in-sector score.

Our sustainability data is audited annually by Bureau Veritas. This audit includes a statement of verification which covers the materiality and quality of data reported.

Click on the links below for more information on our approach to reducing our carbon footprint, reducing our consumption of natural resources, and improving the environment.
