Willmott Partnership Homes was appointed by A2Dominion for the first phase of the UK’s first eco town, located in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
The £27m contract involved constructing 91 of the initial 393 true zero carbon homes that will make up the first phase of NW Bicester.
One why we were appointed, Steve Hornblow, project director, A2Dominion:
“They share our commitment to quality and has experience in building sustainable projects, meeting set environmental targets and delivering local labour opportunities.”
Sustainability - UK's largest array of PV panels!
This was delivered as a zero waste to landfill projects and we are also complying with CEEQUAL.
The first phase was also awarded Bioregional’s One Planet Living status, one of only 10 developments in the world to achieve this rating.
The housing is Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5, supported by PV solar panels on every home (covering an average area of 34m2 per property), making it the UK’s largest residential solar array.
Zero waste will be sent to landfill
Following on from the example of the 2012 London Olympics, NW Bicester became the only housing development in the UK to have a tough zero waste to landfill during construction target, including excavation from roads and trenches. We met it!
Local Labour
The project prioritized the use of local companies and construction materials whenever possible to support jobs and growth in the Bicester area, with a minimum of 20% labour drawn from within a 20 miles radius.
